Shoppi vs Shopify

Shoppi and Shopify, for two shops and a website

One Shoppi account runs your shops and your website. Each location has your own Stripe account under Stripe Connect, with payouts straight to your bank account. On Business, your website runs on your own domain, with an isolated database and standard HTML pages you can copy. Below, how that compares with Shopify Basic and POS Pro on capabilities.

The short version

Shoppi is not ahead on every row. Here is where each one is.

Where Shopify is ahead

POS Pro adds staff roles and permissions, and Basic, Grow and Advanced each list 10 inventory locations. Shoppi has no report across locations and no stock transfers.

What stays yours on Shoppi

Each location has your own Stripe account under Stripe Connect, opened during setup, and payouts go straight to your bank account. Your pages are standard HTML on your own WebDAV drive, so you can copy them anytime. On Business, each store runs on its own isolated database.

Selling in person at a second location
Each counter is its own touchpoint on Starter. The POS app comes with every plan.
Casual in-person selling is included in every plan, with limited staff access and returns at the original purchase location. POS Pro adds more staff and permission options.
Staff
Staff accounts per location, each with a role: admin, editor, sales, shipments, helpdesk or advertising. Only admin and sales take card payments; only admin refunds. The POS app records who took each card payment.
Additional staff accounts: none listed on Basic, 5 on Grow, 15 on Advanced. POS Pro: unlimited staff can access POS, with staff roles and permissions.
Stock and products across locations
Each location keeps its own stock, which you set. No transfers between locations. With the Shared Catalogue add-on (Business), product details and prices are copied across linked locations every 10 minutes.
10 inventory locations on Basic, Grow and Advanced.
Payments
Your own Stripe account under Stripe Connect for each location, opened during setup; payouts go straight to your bank account.
Shopify Payments, or another payment provider.
Store pages
Standard HTML on your own WebDAV drive. Copy them anytime.

Also on Shoppi

A website on your own domain on Business, with a dedicated managed server and an isolated database per store, in Frankfurt or Phoenix.
The Shoppi marketplace. Products on paid plans are listed there, and Shoppi takes 10% only on the orders it brings.
QR menus and payment links on the same account as your shops and website.
An AI writing assistant for product text, and an AI site editor that proposes page changes you approve. Claude Code or Codex can edit your site's files over WebDAV.
Wholesale, by application: Shoppi buys your products and sells them in markets you don't serve yet. How it works.

Not in Shoppi today

A report across all locations. Each location has its own dashboard and its own Stripe dashboard.
Stock transfers between locations.
Receipt printers and cash drawers.
US sales tax calculation at checkout.
A CSV export of orders, products or customers.
Card payments without an internet connection.

In person: Tap to Pay on Android. Bluetooth readers: Reader M2 in the US, WisePad 3 in the UK and the EU. Hardware.

Moving from Shopify

There is no direct Shopify importer. You bring your catalog in one of two ways.

Do it yourself, on any plan

Export your products from Shopify as a CSV file and import it into Shoppi. Each product comes in with name, price, quantity, SKU, one photo and description. Variants, categories and extra photos do not come across, so plan time to add them.

Have it done for you

Concierge setup, $249 one-time, or the Smart Data Importer, $199 one-time on Business. You send us your catalog, and the import is done for you.

1

Questions Shopify merchants ask

No. Shoppi takes payments through Stripe: each location has your own Stripe account under Stripe Connect, opened during setup, and payouts go straight to your bank account. A website and two shops means three Stripe accounts.
You can run Shoppi counters next to any website, and add Shoppi payment links and product checkout pages to it. Shoppi does not connect to Shopify's catalog or stock, so the two would be kept up to date separately.
No. Shopify themes are written in Liquid. Shoppi pages are standard HTML, so a designer can rebuild your theme in HTML, or you can work with the AI site editor, which proposes page changes you approve.
Tap to Pay on Android. Bluetooth Stripe readers: Reader M2 in the US, WisePad 3 in the UK and the EU. Receipt printers and cash drawers are not supported yet. See hardware.
No. Plans are monthly, with no contract. To cancel or downgrade a plan, ask support and we do it for you.
