Shoppi Cloud™ is built on server-side technology we developed ourselves. This page describes it for merchants and partners in plain terms; it is not a specification and not a license. The underlying implementation is proprietary to Shoppi and protected as a confidential trade secret and by copyright.

TagCode™ — our content engine

Every page on every Shoppi Cloud store is rendered through TagCode, our server-side templating system. Instead of static pages, a merchant's store is built from short, reusable placeholders that TagCode resolves to live data — pricing, inventory, translations, personalization — at the moment each page is served. That's what lets a merchant change something once and have it reflected instantly across their entire storefront, in every language, on every device, without a rebuild or a redeploy. One platform, every touchpoint

The same underlying platform serves a merchant's web storefront, connects to their point-of-sale hardware, and exposes a REST API for custom integrations — one system of record for a merchant's catalog, orders and customers, rather than separate tools that need to be kept in sync by hand.

The infrastructure underneath

We build the platform; for payments and hosting we rely on providers whose job is exactly that.

• Payments — Stripe®. Every merchant has their own Stripe account through Stripe Connect, and card payments online and in store (Stripe Terminal readers and Tap to Pay) settle there directly. Shoppi never holds end customers' money; the Shoppi Pay™ app fee of 0.4% + 1 minor currency unit per payment is the only per-transaction amount Shoppi takes on direct sales.
• Hosting — Oracle® Cloud Infrastructure. Stores run on managed Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Business plans get a dedicated virtual server in the region the merchant chooses: Frankfurt, Germany (eu-frankfurt-1) or Phoenix, Arizona (us-phoenix-1). Data is backed up every 3 days on every plan.
• Data — MongoDB®. Each store has its own MongoDB database, which the merchant can access directly, alongside WebDAV access to their store files and the REST API. Data stays exportable; nothing is locked in.
